A Christmas Ride

Danny and I have been wanting to plan a weekend getaway for just the two of us for quite some time now. We sat and discussed where we were going for our weekend trip and decided to go to Savannah, Georgia.

Now let’s fast forward to the week leading up to our weekend trip.

Danny decided to add in a surprise, “Babe! I have a GREAT idea, why don’t we take Sophia (his motorcycle) to Savannah!?”

I promise you, I felt as though my eyelids reached the top of my forehead when Danny made that suggestion. Is he being serious right now? I thought to myself.

Suddenly, a million questions arose as I was trying to comprehend Danny’s crazy suggestion. Before I could respond, Danny was already looking up tips for motorcycle trips.

I let Danny’s idea sit for a few days waiting to see if he would change his mind.

Two days passed and Danny’s mind was still set on taking his motorcycle to Savanah. Keep in mind, Orlando to Savannah is a 4-hour drive!

Danny was so excited about taking Sophia, there was no way I was going to let him down. This is either going to be the best mini-vacation ever or the worse I thought.

It is now the day we are leaving and I get a call from Danny while I was at work. “Babe.. so… there has been a change of plans. We are no longer going to Savannah on the motorcycle.” While a sense of relief came by, I still wanted to go on a weekend trip. “Don’t worry though, we are still going on a motorcycle trip. The ride to our new location will not be as long but it is a surprise.”

Boots check. Gloves check. Leather Jackets check. Helmets check.

We were geared up and ready for our ride!

“Oh we ridin’!” was the phrase of the weekend. We fastened our helmets and away we rode.

The ride itself could not have been any more perfect! The weather was cool enough where I wasn’t dying of sweat in my gear, traffic was pretty light and the best part, Danny had headphones and microphones installed in our helmets so we could talk to each other, how cool!?

After a 1 hour and 45-minute motorcycle ride, we passed a sign that read “Welcome to St. Augustine”.

“Babe! St. Augustine!” I screamed through the helmet headphone with such excitement.
“Yeah, Babe St. Augustine! This is my first time here. This is going to be a great weekend” Danny also responded through his helmet.

… And it was such a great weekend! It was a perfect mini-vacation. It was nothing but good vibes between the two of us.

What’s a holiday trip without some festivities? To me, I would say the highlight of our trip was being able to get into the Christmas spirit.

St. Augustine has a well-known Christmas lights event called Night of Lights which made the entire weekend so memorable.

We laughed, sang Christmas songs, ate some cookies, drank apple cider and explored the Christmas decorations on a trolley. It was such a cute experience and something I will always remember!

While we did not end up going to Savannah, the weekend taught me to trust the process and enjoy whatever may come!

To adventures and any future motorcycle trip, Danny and I may go on.
We Ridin’!

Stay tuned for my next blog where I go in-depth of all the places we went to during our trip.
